Flesh Beauty is a brand that hit our feeds about a year ago, most known for their shade range. Well I was finally sucked in and have loved a few things from them. Their lip glosses and stick highlighters are an everyday staple to me. As you may know they just came out with a liquid foundation called the Pure Flesh Liquid Foundation! I was sent about 4 shades for PR and I was super excited to try this! The two shades that were too dark are Custard and Honey. So those have been sent to some friends. I kept two light shades Crème Fraîche 05 and Vanilla 06.
The Formula
- Medium coverage with a natural, skin-like finish
- Infused with Aloe vera to help soothe and hydrate skin
- Contains glycerin, squalane, sodium hyaluronate (a form of hyaluronic acid), to help skin feel smooth and moisturized all day long
- Water-based formula gives a weightless feel
- Cleanly formulated without parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, mineral oils, silicones,. Whew!
Some things to notice about this liquid foundation is that because it is silicone free you have to be cautious of what kind of primer and moisturizer you use under it. Since this is a water based foundation you want to use a water based moisturizer and primer. Now it is great that it’s formulated without all the crappy stuff, but my personal preference is silicones in my foundation.
How It Wore
The first time I tried it I used my favorite Caudalie SOS Moisture cream under it. This is my holy grail moisturizer but sadly it did not pair well with this. It has silicones in it and essential oils so when I put the foundation over it, it broke the foundation pigment up into pieces. When I tried to put more product on it would move the pigment around and it gathered around my nose and chin area. With this method I applied it with a brush and a eco tools sponge.
The second time I used the Fresh Flesh Illuminating Primer under it, then applied like normal and it did the same thing! This time I applied it with a eco tools sponge.
The third time I didn’t use any moisturizer and primer under it and applied it with a eco tools sponge. But it wore way better throughout the day! I sprayed it with my favorite Lilah B mist and it wore so much better. The mist kept me feeling more hydrated. I admit I didn’t like the feeling of not putting on moisturizer, it felt not as soft and melted in to the skin. But it did not break up around the nose area or chin area like it has before.
Color Match

Although I could go back and get a match, I don’t think any of the shades would be my perfect skin color. I have neutral undertones and all of the lighter ones look too warm or too pink for me. I am not really one to mix foundations to get the desired color, so since I have brands that are a perfect match I do prefer to stick to them. But if you can find a match I think this is something worth checking out.
Something to be aware of is that the shade descriptions are different on the Ulta Beauty’s website compared to Flesh’s website. So I would definitely refer to Flesh’s for more accuracy. If you like medium coverage and liquid foundation’s I would definitely check this out! $32 for a foundation is pretty good for a brand like this. If you liked the Kosas Tinted Oil I think you will love this formula. Are you going to check it out??
